The History of Oak Tree Mobility

From 2 founding members selling rise and recline chairs, to over 150 of us working to bring you a whole range of mobility products- all in less than 9 years. Find out the story behind the Oak Tree Mobility brand.

Oak Tree Mobility was founded in 2008 by directors Ricky Towler and Tom Powell after they found the mobility sector to be sorely lacking. Ricky and Tom set out to create a mobility business with a different approach, after being frustrated by the poor customer service and tired-looking products that they had encountered. Rise and recline chairs were the product that started at all, and they continue to be the most popular Oak Tree products today.

Oak Tree Mobility began life trading only in Oxford and Bristol, where Tom and Ricky would drive to customer’s homes to demonstrate our products themselves. After celebrating their first customer in February 2009, they never looked back.

March 2009 saw an expansion of the product range to include adjustable beds as well, and in April of the same year, Oak Tree moved into its first offices. This allowed Tom and Ricky to begin recruiting a team to help them as they expanded their business nationally to the rest of the UK. They spread the word by advertising in national newspapers, and more and more people became happy Oak Tree customers.

Over time as the Oak Tree Mobility brand became better known across the country, the company also grew bigger in size. New product lines such as stair lifts were introduced and many more people were hired to help the company grow. In 2013 we moved into new custom-built offices but our steady growth meant that by the following year, a bigger space was needed! In 2014 Oak Tree moved into new offices in the centre of Bristol, which is where we are still based today.

Now less than 9 years later the team has grown from just two founding members to over 150 employees across the country, working in a diverse range of jobs from customer service, delivery, and media.

What has stayed the same throughout our journey has been our focus on what matters most- the customer. Our mission is to help as many people as possible by providing high-quality products that can help you remain independent in the home you love. We achieve this by offering top quality craftsmanship and excellent service, all at an affordable price. It is clear that our success over the years would not have been possible without the support of our wonderful community of happy customers.
