Our top products to help you manage your arthritis
Living with arthritis is tough. Your joints ache and you have to deal with swelling and stiffness every day.
The good news is, there are ways of managing your pain.
Medication can help, as can exercise and managing what you eat. But sometimes, you need a little bit of extra help. Finding the right product can ease your symptoms and give you your zest for life back.
So whether you need a chair to help you stand without putting pressure on your joints or a bed that will ease your swollen ankles, we've got the solution.
Rise and recline chairs
Does sitting and standing cause you pain? If so, a rise and recline chair could be just what you need.
At Oak Tree, all of our rise and recline chairs come with a rise function. This makes sitting and standing effortless. Your chair gently raises you to your feet and lowers you into a sitting position, reducing the amount of pressure placed on your joints.
If you get swollen feet or ankles, your doctor has probably recommended that you raise your feet above the level of your hips. But this can be tough if you're already in pain!
Our high leg lift motor tilts your chair back and helps you sit comfortably with your feet up. This improves your circulation and reduces swelling. It also supports your whole body, giving your muscles and joints a much-needed break.
Adjustable beds
A great night's sleep can be hard to achieve if you suffer from joint pain. Our adjustable beds allow you to find the position that is most comfortable for you, depending on where your pain is located.
Raising your upper body slightly can lessen the pressure placed on certain areas of your back, easing back pain.
If swollen ankles are the problem, you can adjust the lower section of the bed to keep your feet elevated over night. Say goodbye to the days of faffing around propping your feet up with pillows - only to wake up and find they've moved!
Your mattress can also make a huge difference to the quality of your sleep, especially if you find your joints are stiffest first thing in the morning or late at night. Pocket sprung, memory foam, and latex mattresses all provide different levels of support, so it's important to weigh up the benefits of each. With the right one, you'll sleep soundly and wake up feeling refreshed, night after night.
Walking aids
Joint pain and stiffness can also make walking difficult - and this can affect your confidence. You might find you feel nervous going outside, particularly when you know you'll have to walk or stand for a long period of time. Walking aids can help you get out and about and enjoy life, while protecting your joints and reducing your pain.
Many of our walking sticks have contoured handles. The shape has been designed to spread the pressure over a wider area of your hand. So you'll be able to use your walking stick comfortably, even if you get pain in your hands and fingers.
If you need a bit more support, we offer a wide selection of rollators and triwalkers. This lightweight rollator has been designed with ergonomically shaped handles and arthritic-friendly looped cable brakes, so you can use your rollator in comfort and with confidence.
Kitchen
If stiffness or pain in your joints means you struggle to move your hands, it may be worth considering a kitchen aid like our automatic can opener. By reducing your need to grip and twist, this can opener minimises the need for actions that can cause pain.
Arthritic pain can be debilitating. Investing in a product to help reduce your pain can make living with arthritis easier, by helping you stay mobile and allowing you to enjoy life once again.
