We pride ourselves in having the best quality materials at the heart of our chairs. We believe that using high-quality materials in our chairs will make them last for years and years, keeping you comfortable for as long as you need.
We’re so proud about what goes into our chairs that we wanted to share it with you. Read on to find out what’s inside our chairs and why we stand out from the rest.
We use kiln-dried Beech hardwood on the inside of our chairs making the structure reliable. Due to its inherent strength and natural grain, Beech will always be superior because Beech is better able to withstand the stresses and strains placed upon the wood in everyday use in a rise and recline chair. Only the best rise and recline chairs are made with natural Beech. While cheaper alternatives use poor quality MDF or chipboard.
British Steel is renowned for being strong and reliable. This is due to the stringent manufacturing process ensuring there are very few impurities in the metal. Imported steel is often cheaper and may not be manufactured to the same standard and reliability of British-made steel.
Spot vs Seam Welding
Welding fixes two or more pieces of metal together. Two types of welding can be used: spot welding and seam welding. Spot welding is a cheaper and weaker method because it only joins the metal at intermittent spots. Seam welding, while more time-consuming and costlier, welds the whole joint and is significantly stronger and longer-lasting.
Wood Tracks vs T-Nut Screws
T-Nuts or wood tracks are used to fasten wood together. While they serve the same purpose, the T-Nut provides a much tighter fixing than a wood track because riser recliner chairs move from a raised position to a reclined position frequently and the wood fixing are subject to regular stress. If the screw is unable to move it will come loose and fail. Unlike wood tracks, T-Nuts are a lifetime fixing that can be relied upon to withstand daily stresses. High-end chairs use T-Nuts to secure essential fixing in place.
Reflex and Memory Foam Cushions
Our Reflex foam prevents the chair from sagging, as it springs back into shape after you leave the chair. You can also add memory foam. This can benefit those who usually stay seated for longer than one hour and those that require extra support. Memory foam relieves pressure on muscles and joints. It can be added to the seat, arms and footrest. It sits under your chosen fabric and adds support as well as comfort.
The padding in our cushions is full of comforting microfiber to support your back. The padding can be adjusted to your taste by taking out or putting in microfibre stuffing so you can get the exact feel that you want.
The seat of the chair is supported by a layer of serpentine springs to add comfort and support to your Oak Tree rise and recline chair.
Choose from 100s of fabrics and leathers
We have a huge variety of different materials to choose from to match your tastes and interior. Our supplier is highly respected and you can tell the difference. The fabric has a ‘four-way stretch’ meaning it stretches in four directions giving you the extra support and comfort you need.
Choose from three different motors
We only put the best motors on the market in our chairs that’s why we make our chairs with Okin motors. Choose from three different motors that suite your preferred rise and recline action. To get the riser recliner chair that is right for you, you’ll have to choose the right motor and this all depends on what you want to get out of the chair and the room you plan to put it in. For example…
The Single Motor High Leg Lift is our best selling. This type of motor allows you to raise the feet above the hips which are great for relieving several health problems.
The Wall Hugger Motor allows chairs to be placed six inches away from the wall, this makes it great for those with limited space. However, this type of motor cannot raise the legs above the hips.
The Dual Motor is unique because it allows the user to control the back and the footrest independently. This is perfect for people who like to keep the backrest of the chair vertical while they raise and lower the footrest. This motor does not raise the feet above the hips.
Casters and gliders
All of our mobility chairs and settees are fitted with Castors and Gliders. The castors are fitted via a metal pin. You should choose castors if you have carpets, they are also lockable. However, if you have wooden or hard floors gliders are better as they move on the floor easier.
Heat and massage
Treat yourself by adding a heat and massage system in your rise and recline chair. The massage system is a great way of improving circulation around the body, it can help you relax, ease your back, and long term aches and pains.
- There is a five-point contact – upper back, lower back, hip area, upper leg, lower leg
- Each point can be activated independently
- There are five intensive speed settings
- Five different functions – Select, Wave, Pulse, Tap and Swell
- It has a separate control wand to the motor
- There is a built-in 15-minute auto turn off for safety
- It has an independent plug to the chair motor.
The heat is independent to the massage system and can be operated with or without the massage being turned on. It heats the back and lumbar area.
- Get a high of 60 degrees C and a low of 40 degrees C
- The heat pad is located in the lumbar pillow of the chair
- It has a built-in 30 minutes auto turn off for safety.
